Trial Leads and Cable

ANS trial leads provide the right balance of coverage and specificity in a cost-effective approach to evaluating the therapy. The clinically proven (3 mm/4 mm) spacing of our Quattrode®, Octrode®, and Axxess® trial leads enhances precise neural targeting. And the longer electrode span of the Octrode trial lead increases the likelihood of locating the optimum target postoperatively.

When configured with Octrode leads, the system provides coverage of two vertebral segments for stimulation of large areas. This expanded coverage, combined with the Octrode lead’s small, closely spaced electrodes, provides more specific stimulation targeting and increases the likelihood of a successful trial.

Key Benefits

  • The long electrode span of Octrode trial leads increases options for electrical field management.

  • Optimal electrode geometry promotes selective recruitment of dorsal column fibers and minimizes dorsal root stimulation.

  • A full complement of trial leads can make the trial process more cost-effective.

  • The small profile of Axxess trial leads affords easy access to restricted anatomy.

  • Less invasive trial – Smaller diameter needle (17 G) and trial lead cause less trauma, which can lead to a more positive trial experience for the patient

  • Broad coverage—Dual Octrode configuration allows stimulation of large areas and increases the likelihood of locating the "sweet spot" for broader pain relief. Broad coverage reduces the chances of a failed trial due to cephalocaudal lead migration.(3,4,5,7,10,11)

  • Accurate targeting—Optimal electrode geometry facilitates accurate targeting through selective recruitment of dorsal column fibers and minimized dorsal root stimulation.(3,4,6,7,8,12)

  • Octrode lead—Small, closely spaced electrodes result in a more focused current field. This facilitates recruitment of desired nerve fibers before unwanted, and sometimes painful, nerve root stimulation occurs.(3,4,6,7,8,12)

Trial Cable

The trial cable connects an ANS lead or extension to a trial stimulation system and is used during intraoperative testing or postoperative trialing. The trial cable features a quick connection system with no setscrews—making intraoperative testing fast and easy. The unique design allows for complete control of the lead and stylet while it is connected to the trial cable intraoperatively.
